Welcome to Hope is on the Move!

Logging your steps on World Walking

What is it?

World Walking is the site we’re using for our Hope is on the Move fundraising challenge. It allows everyone joining in to create an account and log their steps to contribute to the group’s total.

Once you’ve registered to take part in Hope is on the Move (click here to register), and set up your account (click here for a how-to guide), use this guide to see how you can log your steps on World Walking.

1. Once you've logged into World Walking, go to 'My Walks', then click on 'Add Steps'.
2. Type in the number of steps you've done (or click on the arrow next to 'Steps' to insert miles/kms), and then press 'Add Distance'.
3. Now click on 'Spend Steps'.
4. Click on 'Land's End to John o' Groats'.
5. Use the slider or type in the 'Spend' box how many of your steps you want to 'spend' on our walk - hopefully all of them! - and then click 'Spend Distance on Walk'.
6. Once we get going, we'll be able to see how much progress the group as a whole has made, and whereabouts we are on the map. So, if John walks 7,000 steps and spends them on our walk, his 7,000 steps will contribute to the group's total progress... It's a team effort!

“There is nothing worse than not knowing where you’re going to end up each night, and I’ve been there for a while. Gaining employment is a massive relief.”

“Since my conviction I have come to appreciate how hard it is for ex-offenders to get back into the workplace, and as such I know that the work you do really changes lives for the better.”

"Having a job has made me value myself and my contribution to society. It has taught me the true value of money and hard work. It has given me an appreciation of life."

“I'm sat here in tears as I think about the wonderful service you provide and I wonder if you realise just how much it means to people such as myself.”

“It’s such a lonely affair when you are trying to get a job with convictions and you have helped me a lot. So thank you.”

“So, what’s it like to have a job? This is easy. Freedom. The ability to know that firstly at the end of each month you get paid and you can do what you want.”

"For someone like me, who tried to forget the mistake I made over 18 years ago, it's reassuring to know that not everyone is judgemental.”
