Ministry of Justice £6 million rough sleeping initiative
8th November 2018
Three prisons will pilot a trailblazing new scheme that will help ex-offenders stay off the streets and away from crime, Justice Secretary David Gauke announced today.
Jane Gould, Chief Executive Officer of Clean Sheet said:
“We all know that without a suitable and stable place to call home, supporting people into employment becomes much more difficult, One of our partner prisons told us that 60% of men leaving custody have nowhere to live on release, so the announcement to pilot schemes at Pentonville, Bristol and Leeds is wholeheartedly welcomed by Clean Sheet.”
“Providing hope for a better future has to start with getting the basic, fundamental needs right. We have to give people leaving our prisons a fighting chance and we look forward to seeing the impact of these pilots.”
